Newark Man Arrested In Series Of Shootings: Police
The shootings happened in December and February.

NEWARK, CA — Police in Newark arrested a man suspected in a series of drive-by shootings, the department said Wednesday.
On Dec. 20, 2024, three drive-by shootings occurred close together, beginning with one in Union City and then two more in Newark, according to police.
The Newark shootings occurred on Arrowhead Place and Noel Avenue, with a person injured with a gunshot wound on Noel Avenue. The victim has since recovered.

On Feb. 24, another drive-by shooting occurred on Spruce Street in Newark. No one was injured, but a residence and several vehicles were damaged, police said.
Detectives from the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force have identified Newark resident Xavier Medina, 19, as a suspect in three of the shootings.

Medina was arrested on April 1 in Oakland and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged him with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, committing a felony while on bail and other enhancements, according to police.
