Newark Offers Christmas Tree Recycling For Residents
Christmas Trees are only compostable if they are free of all decorations, tinsel, nails, and tree stands.

NEWARK, CA — Are you one of the 20.89 million people who bought a live Christmas tree this year? If so, you may want to take advantage of Republic Services Christmas Tree Recycling program from Monday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 13.
To take advantage of the program single-family homes should place their Christmas trees less than six feet tall in the gutter on their collection day. Larger trees can be cut in half and placed in the gutter or cut into pieces and placed in the green compost cart with the lid closed, Republic Services said.
"A friendly reminder that trees are only compostable if they are free of all decorations, tinsel, nails, and tree stands," the city said.
