Newark School Makes AP Honor Roll

NEWARK, CA — Newark Memorial High School was named to the AP School Honor Roll, a new designation given to schools that show a commitment to maximizing college readiness.

The school is one of 4,570 schools around the country that made the honor roll. Newark Memorial High School received a Bronze designation.

The award was created in October 2023 to recognize schools that “reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.”

The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

To be recognized, schools needed to fulfill the following metrics:

• 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school
• 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam
• 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school, at least one of which was taken in 9th or 10th grade.
