Bicycle Master Plan Open House, Kid Art Workshop, Preventing Memory Loss

1. Today from 4:30-7:30 p.m., the city is hosting an open house so residents can learn more about the Bicycle Master Plan and share their ideas and concerns. The open house will be held at the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado Ave. Community members are also encouraged to take the city's online survey at surveymonkey.com/s/NBbikeplan.  

2. On Wednesday from 1-2 p.m., the OASIS Senior Center is hosting a lecture Hoag Hospital's Dr. William Shankle. The lecture will address how to prevent memory loss and other cognitive impairments due to Alzheimers disease and related disorders. Registration is required for the free event, by calling 800-514-4624. The event will be held at the Evelyn Hart Event Center, 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.


3. On Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., Raymond Otis, the artist laureate of Newport Beach, will teach young students about color techniques and mixing paint at an after-school artists workshop at the Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th St. For more information call 949-645-8489.
 
4. On Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m., the Central Library is hosting a college application process workshop. The workshop is for parents, students and anyone interested in the college application process. Two college experts will speak at the free event. Registration is required, RSVP at eventactions.com/ea.aspx?ea=Rsvp. The Central Library is located at 1000 Avocado Ave.

5. Save the date! Fashion Island will host its annual Christmas tree lighting Christmas ceremony on Nov. 15.
