Doctor Treated Hoag Hospital Like 'Sexual Playground,' Lawsuit Alleges: Report
The lawsuit alleges that officials should have known that Dr. William Moore Thompson IV was committing misconduct in their facilities.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Hoag Hospital officials should have known that Dr. William Moore Thompson IV was committing sexual misconduct in their facilities, The Orange County Register reported.
Dr. Thompson, 57, made his name caring for men living with HIV and AIDs before getting accused of sexually assaulting patients under the guise of medical checkups, the newspaper reported.
Dr. Thompson was accused by patients of performing aggressive prostate exams without gloves, fondling them while commenting on the appearance of their genitalia, subjecting them to sexual innuendo and more.

According to the report, Dr. Thompson had staff privileges at Hoag facilities from 2007 until late 2023, when he was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his patients.
