Donate Blood, Receive Movie Rewards: Drives In Newport Beach

Blood donors who give the gift of blood starting July 15 will receive a movie reward courtesy of the American Red Cross.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — While the summer season sends plenty of people packing for long vacations and leisurely activities, the American Red Cross's need for blood remains urgent.

This July, the Red Cross is attempting to combat the usual drop in blood donations by offering plenty of incentives to Newport Beach residents who donate.

"In addition to summer fun and holidays, severe summer weather can have a sudden impact on the ability to collect blood and platelets," Spokesperson Christine Welch said in a statement. "Eligible individuals are encouraged to make donating blood a priority, especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets."
