NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Business owners around Newport Beach's Balboa Boardwalk are hoping officials can change the city's film ordinance after a recent movie shoot interrupted businesses surrounding the Fun Zone, The Daily Pilot reported.

A movie starring comedian Jim Gaffigan about the life of Greg Laurie, an Orange County pastor, shot several scenes at the Fun Zone over the weekend, the Pilot reported. The movie shoot required the area to close itself to foot traffic, which could potentially cut into a business's profits with the lack of customers.

Some shops told the Pilot they were not informed about the movie shoot.

Newport Beach's film ordinance requires notifications to be sent within a 500-foot radius if a film is shot in a residential area, the Pilot reported. The city's ordinance doesn't have the same guidance for films shot in commercial areas like the Fun Zone.
