Free Shredding, Compost Giveaway For Newport Beach Residents: Save The Date

Newport Beach residents can get in on the free event held by the city this fall season.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Do you have old documents taking up space in your office, or a garden in need of compost?

The City of Newport Beach is hosting a Free Compost Giveaway, Document Shredding and E-Waste Disposal Event on Oct. 18.

Free bags of compost will be available for pickup while supplies last. For those interested in shredding services, up to 10 standard file boxes of documents will be accepted for shredding.

Documents bound with staples or paper clips are acceptable, the city said.

Residents bringing e-waste items for disposal were asked to limit items to the following:

  • Keyboards
  • Televisions
  • Printers
  • DVD players
  • Cell phones
  • Other small electronic devices

Attendees were asked to bring identification to the event, and to refrain from bringing medical waste, household waste or batteries.

The Free Compost Giveaway, Document Shredding and E-Waste Disposal Event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Newport Beach Corporation Yard, 592 Superior Ave.
