Man Arrested for Allegedly Biking While Intoxicated

A man who fell off his bike was arrested for allegedly being intoxicated and resisting police, Newport Beach police reported.

On Saturday night just before 9 p.m., a man riding a bike on 28th Street and Newport Boulevard fell onto the roadway. Responding police officers found the man, and his wife, who was also allegedly intoxicated, at the scene, according to Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman.

The man was treated at the scene for his injuries, and arrested after resisting police officers during the investigation. The man faces additional charges of riding a bike while intoxicated, and his wife was charged with being drunk in public, Manzella said.

No other information was available.
