NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Newport Beach couple is trying to do their part in helping people fleeing from the war in Ukraine by providing direct aid to refugees in Poland, The Daily Pilot reported.

Bryan Haney and Diane Jones Haney told the Pilot the idea to directly help refugees was sparked after talking about what they could do to help those impacted by the violence in Ukraine. The idea that jumped out most to them was traveling to Europe and directly lending a hand to refugees.

The Haneys told the Pilot they decided to go to Poland, where thousands of Ukrainians have fled. The couple has helped whenever an opportunity to lend a hand appears since their arrival.
