Newport Beach Prone Paddlers Break Record Crossing English Channel

Newport Beach prone paddlers Stuart Jeremias and Spencer Wadsworth went across the world in April to cross the channel, reports said.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Two Newport Beach residents made history after prone paddling across the English Channel in record time, The Orange County Register reported.

Stuart Jeremias and Spencer Wadsworth traveled to the other side of the world in April to cross the channel, which starts in England and finishes in French. The journey is a trek few prone paddlers have accomplished, the report said.

While in recent years, plenty of stand-up paddleboarders have crossed the channel, fewer than a dozen have been recorded making the journey on a prone paddle, which requires racers to lay flat or balanced on their knees and shins while using their arms and hands to paddle.
