Newport-Mesa Unified Students Get Perfect Scores On ACT, SAT

The students that got top marks on the standardized tests attend Newport Habor High School and Corona del Mar High School.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Three Newport-Mesa Unified School District students scored perfect scores on their standardized tests.

Two students scored a perfect ACT score, while one student received perfect scores on both the ACT and SAT, the school district announced Thursday.

Newport Harbor High School senior Zak Robertson and Corona del Mar High School junior Alexandra Law received a 36 on their ACT, a score that less than half a percent of students who take the test receive, the district said.

Meanwhile, Newport Harbor senior Kenny Wanlass received a 36 on the ACT and 1600 on the SAT.

"We are extremely proud of our students whose hard work and dedication are recognized through the achievement of these perfect scores," Newport-Mesa Superintendent Wesley Smith said in a statement. "We have amazing students achieving great success each day, and I could not be prouder."

Both Wanlass and Robertson plan to study engineering after graduating high school, while Law plans to study business.
