Small Vegetation Fire Breaks Out Near Newport Back Bay
Firefighters from the Newport Beach Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority responded to the small blaze.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Firefighters in Newport Beach made quick work of a small blaze that broke out near the Back Bay early Thursday afternoon.
Newport Beach Fire Department Fire Services Coordinator Natalie May said the vegetation fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of being reported and contained to an area of about 75 feet by 100 feet. Crews from Newport Beach fire and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the blaze, she said.
Firefighters responded to the blaze around 12:27 p.m., May said.

The fire happened near Back Bay Drive and San Joquin Hills Road, just below the Park Newport Apartment complex. Authorities evacuated several residents from the complex out of an abundance of caution, she said.
No injuries related to the fire were reported.
