Woman Fatally Shot On Costa Mesa Sidewalk; Gunman At Large

A young woman was shot and killed in Costa Mesa Monday night, authorities said Tuesday.

COSTA MESA, CA — A young woman was shot and killed in Costa Mesa Monday night, authorities said Tuesday.

Costa Mesa Police officers responded at around 11:10 p.m. Monday to a report of shots fired and a victim wounded in the 1500 block of Lukup Lane, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

"Officers found a 20-year-old Huntington Beach woman on the sidewalk suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds," CMPD Public Affairs Manager Roxi Fyad said.

The woman was rendered aid until she was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died, Fyad said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was known to the suspect, who remains at large, Fyad said.
A description was not immediately available.
