Youths Wanted For Newport Beach's 'Track Meet Of Champions'

The track meet will pit the city's youths against each other at Newport Habor High School next month.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Fleet-footed youths are wanted to take part in Newport Beach's annual Youth Track Meet of Champions on March 4.

The "multi-event competition" will feature running events at various distances as well as throwing and jumping events, organizers said. The event is co-sponsored by the Newport-Balboa Rotary Club and the Newport Beach Recreation and Senior Services Department.

All competitors will receive an event t-shirt. The top six finishers in each division will go on to represent Newport Beach at the Orange County Qualifying Meet for the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation, according to the event's organizers.

Newport Habor High School will host the meet at its Davidson Field.

There are eight divisions in total, divided by age groups.

Registration for the track meet will close on March 2. Newport Beach residents pay $10 if they register by Feb. 18 and will have to pay $13 after the date.

Non-residents can pay $15 if they pay by Feb. 18 and $18 after the date. Non-resident registration for the track meet closes on March 1.
