2 Seriously Injured in Violent Car Wreck at Chandler and Coldwater Canyon

A 3-year-old girl and her mother also suffer minor injures in the accident at Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Chandler Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Sherman Oaks just west of the Tujunga Wash and Valley Village Sunday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Eric Scott of Los Angeles Fire Department.

A 3-year-old girl and her mother were also transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and the two people who suffered serious injuries had to be extracted from their vehicles by the LAFD. The crash caused one vehicle to roll over, trapping a man and a woman among the wreckage.

"I was leaving work and driving northbound on Coldwater Canyon. I arrived moments after the cars stopped rolling and had just crashed within seconds or a minute.

"So I saw a man pulling children out and a woman with a bleeding arm. I pulled over and gave everyone water bottles...I do not know the details. A silver sedan got broadsided, there was a red SUV that [had] rolled over. I do not know if the silver sedan of the red SUV was going down Westbound Chandler or North or Southbound Coldwater. But there was damaged pieces all over the east side/Westbound side of the intersection. The passenger, a woman in the silver car had to be cut out by the LAFD. She was bleeding a little bit in the face and the whole passenger side of the silver car was smashed in. So it appeared that the silver sedan was broadsided by the red SUV."
