Construction Underway on Tiara Street Intergenerational Center

The park will be on the site of the old North Hollywood Police Station.

Construction on the long-planned, long-delayed Tiara Street Intergenerational Center at Lankershim Boulevard and Tiara Street is underway.

According to Councilman Tom LaBonge's website and laparks.org, the area will feature a 2,200-square-foot center, a community park with a new playground, picnic areas, a 22-car parking lot, an outdoor amphitheater, solar powered lighting, outdoor fitness exercise equipment stations, decomposed granite walking paths and a board game area.

Ground was broken on the the $2.1 million project in July of 2011 with a planned one-year construction period. The park will be built on a 1.56-acre property that is currently undeveloped near Maurice Sendak Elementary School and was formerly the site of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Police Station.
