Feedback Sought for Water Sustainability Projects
Locals can give their two cents on a series of proposals before funding is sought.

The Council for Watershed Health has a few water resource improvement projects in mind for North Hollywood, but wants feedback from local residents before applying for funding.
On Nov. 7, community members are invited to Victorio's Ristorante (10901 Victory Boulevard) from 5-8 p.m. to review and critique a series of project ideas, some of which came from constituents.
A summary of the proposed recommendations is attached to this story. Here are a few of them:

Cahuenga is a residential street that is falling apart. It is the most
dilapidated of all the main streets in this District. In addition, it is lacking sidewalks, drainage, and clear parking. We recommend redoing this street altogether with a multi-purpose pathway that includes bioswales or curb inlets with a mix native shrubs and tall trees for shade. We also recommend sidewalks, a bike lane connecting to Chandler, and on street parking. All this should be constructed with permeable pavement where possible.Vineland is also a very wide street that dwarfs the pedestrian, making the two sides of the street seem like separate entities. The large scale of the street makes the sidewalk feel isolated from its surroundings. Vineland is in the middle of the District and is the primary north/south axis. Therefore, it should be designed to serve as a connector not a divider. It should be designed as both a complete street catering to multi-modal transportation, as well as a green street focusing on stormwater capture.
