TUJUNGA, CA — A brush fire along the Foothill (210) Freeway in Tujunga that burned more than 40 acres has been fully contained Sunday, authorities said.

"Fire crews now begin the process of picking up the progressive hose lines that have been laid and utilized around the affected area over the past two days," the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement.

Firefighters responded to the blaze burning along the eastbound side of the freeway near La Tuna Canyon Road around 4:10 p.m. Friday, according to the LAFD's Lyndsey Lantz.

The fire's forward progress was stopped, but "the terrain is quite steep and covered in erosion-preventing wire mesh, which makes this slow and difficult work," the department said Saturday morning.

The LAFD and Los Angeles County Fire Department worked on the blaze from the air and on the ground.
