Flex Alert Issued For Wednesday In North Hollywood
Residents are asked to conserve energy use between 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. due to extreme heat and limited electricity supply.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — In the midst of soaring temperatures across California, officials are calling upon North Hollywood residents to limit electricity use to reduce the strain on the state's power grid.
The statewide Flex Alert will be in effect from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the California Independent System Operator, which manages the grid.
A Flex Alert is a call for voluntary energy conservation, essentially a plea for residents across the state to cut their power use to reduce overall demand and lower the risk of outages. Although the most extreme temperatures are expected in Northern California — where temperatures could climb above 100 degrees — the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures in the valley will be similarly hot and dry.

NWS forecasts a high of 92 degrees in North Hollywood today, and 91 degrees on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to hover above 90 degrees through next Tuesday.
"Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and
early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy
production falling," California ISO said. "Consumers are also asked to turn off unnecessary lights, delay using major appliances until after 9 p.m., and set air conditioner thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, if health permits."
