Heat Advisory In North Hollywood As Temps Push Triple Digits

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — With another heatwave bearing down on North Hollywood, officials have issued a heat advisory warning residents to take extra precautions to stay cool.

The heat advisory will last until Tuesday night at 8 p.m. unless extended.

"Hot conditions with temperatures of 97 to 107 degrees expected," National Weather Service said. "Overnight temperatures up to 70 to 75 degrees across warmest locations. Hot conditions will increase the risk for heat-related illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, and those active outdoors."

Temperatures in North Hollywood are expected to reach 98 degrees on Monday and 96 on Tuesday. Forecasters expect temperatures to hit 95 degrees on Wednesday.

The warning advises people who work outside to schedule breaks in the shade or air-conditioning whenever possible. The NWS also issued a reminder not to leave children, pets or the elderly inside locked cars, even with the windows down, as interior temperatures can quickly rise to fatal levels.

"Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke," NWS said. "Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
