Created by a North Hollywood car designer, the ride from the original 'Batman' TV series is expected to fetch millions.

The Batman franchise has churned out its share of collectibles that gets hardcore fans salivating, but after more than 40 years there's one coveted rarity about to hit the market for the first time.
The Batmobile from the original Batman TV series is heading to the auction block and is expected to fetch millions, according to the New York Daily News.
Since the show went off the air in 1968, the tricked out 1955 Lincoln Futura has remained in the possession of its creator, George Barris.

For more than six decades he's owned an operated Barris Kustom Industries in North Hollywood, giving birth to famous car after famous car, but none as more well known than the original ride of the dark knight.
"It's a big part of my life," Barris told the New York Daily News. "But I thought about it and decided it should be shared with people around the world, not sitting in my showroom in North Hollywood."

Arizona auction house Barrett Jackson is putting the Batmobile up for bid on Jan. 19.
