NoHo's Southern California Health Institute Founder Treated Several 'Dancing With the Stars' Finalists

North Hollywood, CA, May 18^th, 2012 – On Monday night’s live show celebrity dancer Katherine Jenkins, who advanced to next week’s final, was unable to complete her second dance routine of the evening when she hurt her back. The classically trained singer, 31, attempted a back bend during her final routine of the night, but stumbled in the process, falling to the ground. Her professional dance partner Mark Ballas and several others had to hold her up and help her off the stage. 

After leaving the stage, Katherine was immediately taken to Boris Prilutsky for treatment of her back. After an intensive thirty minute treatment session Katherine was able to rejoin her fellow cast mates for an after show celebration. Ultimately, Katherine’s doctor diagnosed her with a reflectorical spasm in her lower back. She is expected to make a full recovery and dance in next weeks’ finale.

Boris was at Monday Night’s taping on behalf of celebrity dancer Maria Manunos and her professional dance partner Derek Hough. Maria first met Boris about three weeks ago, when a doctor referred her to Boris for treatment.  Maria had been suffering with two broken ribs and three broken toes on her left foot and two on her right foot. Boris has been treating Maria 3-4 times per week. Boris’ treatments have focused on managing Maria’s significant inflammation and edema in her foot with a combination of Lymph Drainage, Massage, Fascia Release & trigger point therapy. Even though doctors have advised her not to dance, Boris’ treatments have helped Maria earn the nickname of “Rocky Balboa” in reference to her ability to compete through multiple injuries. In fact, Maria has said herself that the only reason she was able to stay on the show is because of Boris’ amazing treatments. Additionally, Boris started treating Maria’s partner Derek this past weekend when Derek hurt his back in rehearsals.

Boris Prilutsky has been teaching and practicing medical and sports massage for the last 40 years. He graduated from the Pedagogic Institute of Higher Education in Vinnitsa, Ukraine with a degree in physical education. He completed a postgraduate physical rehabilitation study at Lesgoft Institute of former Leningrad and graduated from Medical College in Ramat-Gan, Israel, with a degree in chiropractic medicine.

Besides working with Katherine, Maria and Derek, Boris has treated numerous professional athletes, Olympians, Movie Stars and World Dignitaries. Currently, Boris is working closely with U.S. Olympic sprinter Rodney Martin who is preparing for this summer’s Olympics in London. Boris has been working with Rodney since 2010 after Rodney suffered a significant hamstring injury that kept him out of international competition for a full year.

Boris Prilutsky also founded the Southern California Health Institute School of Massage and Physical Therapy Aide/Sports Rehab Training in North Hollywood, California in 1996.
