PHOTOS: Strathern Street Gets Spruced Up
The NoHo West Neighborhood Council hosts a community cleanup on Saturday.
The NoHo West Neighborhood Council hosted a community cleanup day on Saturday along Strathern Street. The attached photos were sent in to Patch by Nancy Characky, a neighborhood watch captain who participated in the cleanup.
"My husband and I are sick and tired of the blight creeping in around here, and getting more frustrated by the lack of City services, but I could go on for days about that," Characky wrote in an email. "So we try to do our little part and have had several community clean ups in the past with the help of neighbors pitching in. This time it was sponsored by our NoHoWest NC. We had a great turnout of about 20 people. Although our expectations fell a little short of our goal (we wanted to do the entire Strathern Street between Bellaire and Whitsett and we only got to the 170 freeway due to the fact it was a bigger mess than anticipated). As you will see from the photos....we CAN make a difference....little by little."
Take a look at the photos to see the dramatic before & after appearance of Strathern Street.
