Trunk Line Work on Magnolia Delayed to 2013
The crew picked to work on the project is moved to another assignment for the time being.

The start date for a project to replace 8,700 feet of an aging subterranean trunk line beneath Magnolia Boulevard between Coldwater Canyon and Whitsett avenues has been pushed back to March 2013, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).
Work was supposed to begin in August on Unit 4, one of five parts of an ongoing effort to replace 35,000 feet (1.6 miles) of major water system connectors, but several factors such as shifting man power have sparked a delay, said Project Designer Nancy Wigner.
Some of the crew that was supposed to work on Unit 4 is currently working on Unit 5 near Ventura Boulevard and Coldwater to tend to a section of the trunk line that has been prone to more leaks in the past few years, she said.

Wigner said a crew will be available to begin work on the Magnolia Boulevard stretch of the trunk line next March. That portion of the project would last through July 2015.
The Unit 4 section of the line consists of 36-inch, 54-inch, and 60-inch diameter potable water pipelines, one valve vault, 10 butterfly valves, two jacks, one pipe hanging, and one tunnel, according to the LADWP.
