Area Residents Are the Most Generous
Donations plentiful for food drive, Tip-a-Cop and Relay for Life.
No matter how taxing the taxes or how stressful the economy, local residents always seem to be forthcoming when their neighbors are in need.
For instance, when the recently, folks in Chatsworth, Porter Ranch and Northridge opened their cupboards and donated nearly six tons of non-perishable groceries to local food banks.
And when held a 24-hour walk-a-thon at Chatsworth High School, more than 400 participants registered online to participate, raising $32,131 for the American Cancer Society. Of the 18 teams in the walk, the Lawrence Lifesavers raised $8,548, the CHS Senior Humanitas raised $4,337, and Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce raised $3,451.

The officers from the LAPD Devonshire Division used their day off to become waiters at the Claim Jumper restaurant recently, their raised $3,800 for the Special Olympics.
