Battle Over Islamic Center of Northridge Comes to a Vote Sunday

A two-year Islamic Center battle of Muslim vs. Muslim comes to a head in Northridge Sunday with a court-ordered board of directors election.

Just which of two factions will get to be in charge?

The Sunni institution has a 20,000-square-foot mosque in Granada Hills and a smaller facility in Northridge.

The Daily News is reporting that hundreds of members of both factions are expected to show up along with security guards and police officers.

The nasty fight has centered more over issues of legal authority and financial management than theological divisions.
