NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A busy Valley thoroughfare is set to be shut down Friday afternoon after authorities discovered a billboard on top of a previously burned building has the potential to collapse.

The building, located just south of the 5 Freeway at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Peoria Street, was previously the site of a fire. Authorities recently determined a billboard on top of it is unstable and requires removal, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The LAFD cordoned off the area and closed one southbound lane of Laurel Canyon Boulevard closed at around noon.
