Brush Fire Breaks Out Off 405 Freeway Monday Afternoon

A brush fire broke out on the edge of the Sepulveda Basin in the San Fernando Valley Monday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A brush fire broke out in the Sepulveda Basin Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire, located at the edge of the basin near Burbank Boulevard and the 405 Freeway, just before 2 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

At that time, the blaze had burned 1.5 acres and was described by the LAFD as "medium-to-heavy brush burning uphill toward Burbank Boulevard at a moderate rate of spread, driven by light winds."

"Dozer lines from previous burns are expected to help keep this fire in check," the LAFD said.

No injuries were reported.
