CHATSWORTH, CA — A brush fire broke out near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Simi Valley Friday afternoon, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

Authorities responded to a one-acre brush fire just before 1 p.m. next to the freeway near Rocky Peak Park, authorities said. Authorities stopped forward progress on the fire between one and two acres around 1:15 p.m., according to VCFD.

The Los Angeles and Los Angeles County Fire Departments assisted Ventura County authorities with an air and ground response.

"On scene resources are making good progress," the Ventura County Fire Department said in a Tweet.

It was not immediately clear if there were injuries or whether any structures were threatened.
