Brush Fire Breaks Out In San Fernando Valley

A brush fire broke out in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area Tuesday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters battled a brush fire that broke out in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at around 1 p.m. near Balboa and Victory boulevards in Lake Balboa, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It had burned over a half acre of medium to heavy brush as of 1:17 p.m.. The fire was described as slow-burning.

Within an hour, firefighters had stopped forward progress of the blaze, which held at a half acre.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

"Firefighters will remain on scene to conduct mop up operations and ensure no hot spots remain," the LAFD said.
