Families Enjoy a Movie Under the Stars at Northridge's National Night Out
Local residents turned out to meet the police, firefighters and other first responders who protect their communities.
It was a sweltering 104 degrees Tuesday afternoon when they began setting up for the 29th annual National Night Out at Northridge Park.
But when the sky darkened and they began to show the animated Kung Fu Panda 2 movie under the stars, it was a balmy 88 degrees.
Hundreds of families turned out to meet the police, firefighters and other first responders who protect their communities. They browsed booths ranging from that of Councilman Mitch Englander, Supporters of Law Enforcement in Devonshire (SOLID), various neighborhood councils, the Berman and Sherman political campaigns and the Target retail store.

Hot dogs, chips and soda were free. And for the first time in several years, the demand for Kiwanis Club frankfurters didn't overwhelm the supply.
