Fire Breaks Out At Lake Balboa Home, Threatens Nearby Houses

A fire broke out at a Lake Balboa home in the San Fernando Valley Friday afternoon.

LAKE BALBOA, CA — Firefighters quickly knocked down a blaze at a vacant home in Lake Balboa on Thursday afternoon, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses.

The fire was first reported around 12:26 p.m. at a one-story single-family home in the 8100 block of Louise Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Flames were showing when crews arrived, and firefighters took an offensive approach as two neighboring homes were threatened, officials said.

A total of 46 firefighters extinguished the flames in 29 minutes, containing the fire to the building of origin and some adjacent vegetation. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said the home appeared to be vacant. Firefighters were able to defend the two threatened homes, which sustained no damage.
