Fire Scorches 5 Acres Near Magic Mountain

Firefighters and air crews took aggressive action to halt the spread of a wildfire west of Castaic and Six Flags Magic Mountain Tuesday.

CASTAIC, CA — A fire scorched about five acres of brush in the Del Valle area west of Castaic and Six Flags Magic Mountain Tuesday, but no structures were threatened.

Firefighters and "multiple" fixed-wing aircraft crews were sent about 1 p.m. to the area near SR126 and San Martinez Grande Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Within about 45 minutes, the fire's forward progress had been stopped, and the air crews were canceled. Ground crews remained on scene mopping up.
