Firefighter Injured, 3 Buildings Damaged In Northridge Grass Fire: LAFD
With the help of water dropped by helicopters, 55 firefighters battled the blaze in 100-degree heat.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A firefighter was injured and three buildings were damaged in a brush fire that broke out on a residential property in Northridge Friday afternoon.
The blaze was reported just before 2 p.m. as a quarter-acre grass fire on a large parcel of land behind a home on Encino Avenue, just north of Nordhoff Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
With the help of water dropped by helicopters, 55 firefighters battled the blaze in 100-degree heat, according to the LAFD's Brian Humphrey.

It "took just 61 minutes to confine and fully extinguish a fast-moving fire involving ground and dense canopy vegetation on a 30,000 square foot residential parcel, that extended to damage at least two shed-like structures and a residential building (accessory dwelling unit)," he said.
One firefighter suffered from a "significant hand laceration" and was transported to a local hospital, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
