Firefighters Battle 2-Story Apartment Fire In Winnetka

An apartment fire spread to the structure next store in Winnetka before crews were able to knock it down.

WINNETKA, CA —Firefighters are on the second of a two-story apartment fire in the Winnetka area.

The blaze broke out shortly before 4 p.m. in the 20210 block of West Sherman Way Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find flames showing from the second story of a garden-style apartment building, said fire department spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz. The blaze spread to an adjacent structure next door.

"Additional resources were requested beyond the first assignment, and approximately 100 firefighters worked on scene to ensure flames in both structures were knocked down within 39 minutes," Lantz added.
