Grab Your Helmet, BikeFest Is Sunday
California State University, Northridge will host a day of biking and walking activities Sunday, complete with good eats and music.
NORTHRIDGE, CA — Grab your helmets, Northridge, BikeFest is coming to California State University, Northridge.
The day of festivities will include an outdoor spin class, skill demonstrations, vendors, music and good eats. Attendees are encouraged to bring along their bikes or any other wheels, like a skateboard or scooter, to ride around with neighbors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The free event, hosted by the CSUN College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, will kick off at 1811 Nordhoff St. Bikers of all experience levels are encouraged to join, as are walkers. Leashed pets are also welcome, according to organizers.

“The BikeFest is really about community,” said Yan Searcy, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. “One aspect is about decreasing the distance between Los Angeles communities and CSUN. Another is about bringing together communities around sustainability, fitness and safety.”
Experienced riders can embark on a 25-mile group ride taking off at 9 a.m. from the University Student Union.

Looking for an extra Halloween twist? A 5-mile costume group ride will take off at 2 p.m.
Sundays events will also include a job fair for cycling and other industries, as well as a professional panel to discuss diversity and inclusion and the future of cycling.
“Additionally, the Bikefest is about building cycling communities by embedding diversity and inclusion while providing economic opportunities; and I almost forgot an important element, it is about fun!” Searcy said.
