NORTHRIDGE, CA — A grease spill on Nordhoff Street prompted a Sig Alert on the San Diego (405) Freeway near North Hills Thursday afternoon.

The Sig Alert started at 8:11 a.m. on the northbound 405 Freeway near Nordhoff Street, according to California Highway Patrol. The Sig Alert continued through the afternoon and was expected to last until at least 1:40 p.m. Thursday.

The Nordhoff Street on-ramps and off-ramps were blocked in both directions, according to CHP.

A large amount of oil spilled on Nordhoff Street around 6 a.m. Thursday, causing at least one collision. It was not immediately clear where the oil came from.
