The Italian Stampede is a not-to-be-missed automotive rally.

There wasn't a Ford Taurus in sight. Or a Honda Civic. This was a day for gorgeous Italians only.

The Italian Stampede was to be a road rally from Chatsworth to Monterey. Ten uniformed off-duty motorcycle cops escorted Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, just to drop a few names. As well as a couple of Fiats slumming with the upper crust.

After arriving in Monterey, cars would be displayed at the Concorso Italiano, the largest gathering of Italian cars in North America. On Friday and Saturday there were tickets to the Russo & Steele auto auction.

And what would the Italian Stampede be like without the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at the Mazda Raceway in Laguna Seca and the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance on Sunday.

Oh, and there will be parties, too.

On a weekend like this, who needs to worry about the price of gasoline?
