Leak Triggers Hazmat Response At North Hills Food 4 Less Store

People exposed to the leak in the store were treated at the scene Monday.

NORTH HILLS, CA — The leak of about one gallon of refrigerant coolant at a Food 4 Less store in North Hills Monday evening was contained by Los Angeles Fire Department Hazmat personnel, but the store will remain closed until it is cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Hazmat personnel responded at approximately 9:11 p.m. to 16208 Parthenia St., west of Woodley Avenue, where they were able to contain the spillage, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

People in the store who were minimally exposed to the chemicals were treated at the scene and released and no chemical threats were reported.
