Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Metrolink Train In San Fernando Valley

A person was fatally hit by a Metrolink train in Van Nuys early Tuesday morning.

VAN NUYS, CA — A person was fatally struck by a Metrolink train in Van Nuys Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash was reported at 6:24 a.m. near 7927 North Orion Ave, according to the department. The person, estimated to be in their 40s, was struck by an eastbound train and determined dead on the scene, authorities said.

There was no additional identifying information available.

The person was struck by Metrolink train 100, eastbound on the Ventura County Line, in a "non-pedestrian" area between the Northridge and Van Nuys stations, according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink.

All rail traffic was stopped in the area Tuesday morning, Johnson said.

The Los Angeles Police Department opened an investigation into the death.
