A pedestrian was hit by a Metrolink train that was en route to Union Station Friday afternoon but survived with non-life threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Jodie McGee of the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Roscoe and Balboa with the Ventura County Metrolink line that travels from Ventura to Downtown Los Angeles.
The incident appears to be an attempted suicide, according to McGee. The man suffered a broken arm and internal injuries.
McGee said he was uncertain if the train was going full speed when the collision happened, but the closest Metrolink station, at 8775 N. Wilbur Avenue, is almost three miles from the scene of the accident, according to Google Maps.
