Car Hits Man, Pregnant Woman; Fetus Dies

Two people are struck while allegedly jaywalking Thursday night in North Hills.

A pregnant woman lost her baby after she and a man were struck by a vehicle and injured while jaywalking in North Hills, police said Friday.

The crash happened around 11:19 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Parthenia Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police
Department's Valley Traffic Division.

Both victims were taken to a hospital and the woman's 7-month-old fetus did not survive, said Officer Tim Arroyo.

The woman was in stable condition and the man was treated for non-life-
threatening injuries, Arroyo said.

The driver of the vehicle, which was headed north on Sepulveda when it struck the victims as they crossed eastbound, stopped at the scene, he said.

The man and woman were apparently jaywalking when they were struck, a Valley Traffic Division investigator told a news photographer at the scene.
