Mayor, Sheriff Headed To Runoff: Northridge-Chatsworth Election 2022
The polls are closed in Northridge and Chatsworth, and voters have had their say on the city council race as many county-wide races.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva's bid for a second term will move to a November runoff election against former Long Beach police Chief Robert Luna, as will Rick Caruso and Karen Bass's predictably tight race for Mayor. (Scroll for real-time results below.)
The Associated Press declared the mayoral race headed to a runoff election Tuesday evening because there weren't enough remaining ballots to tip the race. Caruso jumped ahead of the field in the race for mayor Tuesday. However, Rep. Karen Bass was on his heel with fewer than 6,000 votes separating the two as of 9 p.m.
Early results on Tuesday showed a close race between Bob Hertzberg, Lindsey Horvath and Henry Stern, with Hertzberg leading the pack with 35.7 percent of the votes. Lindsey Horvath trailed closely behind with 26 percent of the votes. Stern trails behind with 22.56 percent of the vote as of 11 p.m. Tuesday. This position will likely move to a runoff given candidates were unlikely to pull more than 50 percent of the vote after initial tallies Tuesday.
