Coach at Valley School Arrested for Alleged Sex Crimes

Teacher and coach at Hillcrest Christian School in Granada Hills is released on $100,000 bail. Police seek other possible victims.

Police have arrested a coach at Hillcrest Christian School in Granada Hills for alleged sex crimes against an underage student, and are seeking any additional victims.

Mark Stephen Hubbard, 51, was released from jail after posting $100,000 bail. He has been employed at the school for eight years and has served as a health teacher, athletic director and assistant coach for boys' basketball and baseball teams, police said at a Tuesday news conference.

Investigators say there may be additional students who have not yet reported being victimized, and they are hoping any additional victims will come forward.

On Sunday, a parent alerted Devonshire detectives to an alleged ongoing sexual relationship between an unidentified high school student and the suspect. Hubbard was immediately arrested and booked on multiple sex-crime charges, police said.

Police declined to disclose the age and gender of the alleged victim.
