Small Brushfire Breaks Out Near Magic Mountain

A small fire in Santa Clarita Sunday may have been started by a woman with book of matches.

SANTA CLARITA, CA — Firefighters in Santa Clarita Sunday quickly put out a small fire in the middle of a field near Magic Mountain, that may have been started by a woman with book of matches.

Firefighters were dispatched to the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Magic Mountain Parkway a little after 9 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP reported at 9:18 a.m. that a woman had a book of matches with her, just before the start of the fire.

Witnesses told officers the woman was acting like a person with mental health issues.

No arrests were made and there was no other immediate information.
