Stolen Truck Drivers Lead Police On Dueling High-Speed Chases: CHP

The trucks were reportedly tracked from a dealership in Nevada. Police located the drivers on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles County.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The drivers of two pick-up trucks believed to be stolen from a Nevada car dealership led police on dueling high-speed chases through Los Angeles Monday.

In the end, police arrested both drivers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The chases began early Monday afternoon on the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Newhall area, both involving suspects driving GMC trucks. The dealership the trucks were taken from were reportedly tracking the stolen vehicles for police.

As the suspects weaved through traffic at speeds occasionally topping 100 mph, one exited the freeway in the North Hollywood area and came to a stop near Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard, where the driver was eventually taken into custody.

The second driver continued trying to evade police, heading south on the 5 Freeway to the Glendale (2) Freeway, then the 134 and the Harbor (110) Freeway toward Downtown Los Angeles. He then sped on surface streets near USC and came to a stop near Jefferson Boulevard and Halldale Avenue in the Adams-Normandie area.

According to KTLA, the driver got out the moving truck and left it in drive as he fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, he was arrested according to the CHP.
