Suspicious Item Shuts Down 118 Freeway Ramp
An LAPD bomb squad robot secured the item, and investigators determined the item was a length of pipe that posed no danger.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Caltrans discovered a suspicious item at the De Soto Avenue on-ramp to the eastbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in the Porter Ranch area Thursday, prompting the California Highway Patrol to shut down the on-ramps.
An LAPD bomb squad robot was called to the scene to render the suspicious item safe, and all freeway lanes and ramps were reopened.
Investigators determined the item was a length of pipe that posed no danger.

Both the CHP and the Los Angeles Police Department were called to the scene to investigate, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told Patch.
"Both the east and westbound on-ramps will blocked until further notice," Kravig said at the time.

The closure did not extend to the freeway lanes, but it is slowed traffic in the area and commuters were advised to expect delays.
