SUV Narrowly Misses Hitting Restaurant Crowd, Slams Into Building Next Door

An SUV nearly hit a crowd of people eating dinner outside a Ventura Boulevard restaurant when it slammed into the building next door.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — An SUV narrowly missed crashing into people eating dinner outside at a Ventura Boulevard restaurant when it veered off the road and slammed into a building next door Wednesday night, according to a report.

The crash was reported at around 8:30 p.m. at 13701 Ventura Blvd., at the intersection of Woodman Avenue. The SUV left the road and crashed into the business next to the Petit Trois restaurant, where people were dining inside and outside.

The damaged unit currently houses a coffee shop, which was closed during the time of the crash, KCAL reported.

Petit Trois posted about the incident on social media: "Thank you to everyone who has reached out and checked in. After a a car crashed into our Le Valley location last night we're very grateful to report that everyone is safe and unharmed."

The restaurant was set to open as usual on Thursday.

Video from the scene captured by Key News Network shows an SUV with a damaged front end in front of the damaged storefront, which sustained major damage and was littered with debris and broken glass inside.

Firefighters responded to the scene to remove the car and shore up the structure, and a building inspector was summoned to determine if there was a lingering safety risk.
