Video: Hit And Run Driver Sneaks Away While Bystanders Rush To Help
Police released jarring footage of a crash that left a pedestrian in critical condition Tuesday in hope that someone recognizes the driver.

TARZANA, CA — A man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup while walking in a crosswalk Tuesday. The driver who hit him in broad daylight milled around the scene with bystanders and then snuck away while witnesses called for medical help.
It was all caught on camera, and the Los Angeles Police Department released the jarring footage Tuesday in hope that someone will recognize the hit-and-run driver.
The crash happened in the crosswalk at the intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Clark Street just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Security footage shows a black Ford F-150 turning left from southbound Reseda Boulevard onto Clark Street, striking a man in his 60s as he begins to cross the street.

The truck runs him over, leaving his body crumpled, his drink spilled. Bystanders stopped at the light piled out of their cars to help the man. The truck driver quickly pulls over and joins the bystanders. He appears to make a phone call, but as the bystanders are distracted, the driver slinks back to his truck and takes off.

The victim was rushed by paramedics to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver, a tall, slender man, was last seen wearing a light blue sweatshirt with writing on it, dark pants and a baseball cap and white tennish shoes. His truck was loaded with a city trash can and recycling can and two pieces of tall furniture.
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with any information. The city offers a reward of up to $25,000 for help identifying hit-and-run drivers.
